HUD Officials on Guam

The following HUD Representatives were on Guam this week;

• Richard Rainey, HUD Regional Director, Region IX
• Gordon Furutani, Field Office Director
• Mike Flores, Director of Public Housing
• Mark Chandler, CPD Field Office Director

These officials met with the Lt.Col Kube, LCDR Dean Hansen about the impending military buildup.  Others in attendance – Benny Pinaula, Ronald De Guzman, Paul Shintaku, Elaine Dell’Isola, Andrew Leon Guerrero, and Nora Camacho.

HUD officials, with key managers from GHURA, went to several key projects that were funded and built through GHURA.

HUD presented a check to First Lady Joann Camacho, for the Continuum of Care Program which exists to address homelessness. The organizations to benefit from this funding include; The Salvation Army, Catholic Social Services, and the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse.

Housing Study- Status

As reported, GHURA has issued an Intent to Award to the proposer with the highest ranking.  Since the issuance, a protest has been submitted and forwarded to legal counsel for GHURA.
