NGO Action:

The members from NGO’s have been tasked to determine the capacity shortfall anticipated as a result of the build-up and identify the resources needed. A work session with these entities will be scheduled.

Private Sector Action:

The members from the private sector have been tasked to examine the barriers to the development of affordable housing and report to the committee. This report will then be used to present to those Government agencies responsible for regulations and permitting. The objective is to streamline the process to develop affordable housing, without sacrificing the need to protect the natural resources and the community.

Military Housing Allowance:

A letter will be drafted asking DOD for clarification/confirmation about any changes to the military housing allowance. The private sector has expressed the need to obtain clarification on this topic, as developers have delayed some projects in anticipation of changes. Example – a potential project of 2,000 homes to be built- based upon the decision of DOD relative to the allowance, developers would like to information on their potential target market (“high end” or moderate range).

Agency Reports: Department of Land Management, Guam Housing Corporation and Guam Ancestral Lands Commission have indicated that there is nothing new to report.  No status Chamorro Land Trust Commission.

Monthly Meetings:
