MEETINGS:
A meeting was held on 1/8/09, at 10am. The main topic of the meeting was the Housing Study. Attendees: Benny Pinaula (GHURA), Terry Mortera (DLM), Jeremy Rojas (GHC), Carlos Camacho (MSSH), Mildred Lorzano (CSB), Joe Diego (USDA), Steve Cruz (USDA), Nora Camacho (GHURA) and Housing Study Consultants: Tara Perez‐Steffy & Paul Packbier (PCR Environmental), Jim Dannemiller & Kristin Bailey (SMS Inc.). Guam Comprehensive Housing Study 2008: The consultants that have been hired to conduct the “Housing Study” began work on Jan. 1, 2009. Consultants held a “kick‐off” meeting with members of the CMTF Hsg. Subcommittee to discuss the general tasks, timeline, and deliverables for this project. Elements of the project include: a. Data collection, public meetings, key informant interviews, a Demand Survey2009 Guam Homeless Point‐in‐Time Count The consultants hired to design the Homeless Point‐in‐Time count have begun work. They held the first meeting with the Guam Homeless Coalition on Jan. 7, 2009. The results of the homeless count will provide GHURA, the Guam Homeless Coalition, and other entities that service the homeless with information on the number of homeless on Guam. The count is expected to occur on January 31, 2009. At this time, volunteers are needed to assist in this one day count of homeless. The information garnered from this project will be used by the CMTF Hsg. Subcommittee to prepare for the possible effect on the homeless situation. Given that the buildup is expected to have an effect on housing affordability, the homeless situation may be affected negatively. |
