The following is the Housing Subcommittee Report for the week ending February 1, 2008.
Comprehensive Housing Study The Request for Proposal for the Comprehensive Housing Study has been announced. The deadline for proposals is February 29, 2008, at 3:00pm. The announcement is available on the GHURA website, with hopes of increasing the number of potential offerors. 2010 Budget Agencies have been informed of the need to prepare a budget for 2010, reflecting the needs as a result of the buildup. GHURA will begin the discussions with its various divisions next week. GHURA project to build affordable homes. GHURA met with representatives from GEDCA and Banc of America Securities, LLC to discuss bond‐financing options to build affordable homes. Ancestral lands issue Guam Ancestral Lands Commission has raised a concern regarding the Federal Government asserting their rights to reserved easements within properties that were deemed excess ten (10) years ago. In some instances, original landowners are landlocked as access via these easements has been denied/blocked. Ed Benavente, has proposes that the Federal Government deed easements to the Government of Guam. Department of Land Management has indicated that there is nothing new to report. No status from Guam Housing Corporation and Chamorro Land Trust Monthly Meetings The next monthly meeting is scheduled for February 7, 2007. |
