EXECUTIVE SUMMARY CIVILIAN-MILITARY TASK FORCE The realignment of U.S. Forces from Japan to Guam will result in a substantial increase in military personnel and dependents stationed on Guam. There are approximately 14,190 military personnel and dependants currently stationed on island, and it is estimated that an additional 26,190 military personnel and their dependents, including 9,700 Marines, will be relocated to Guam before 2014, for a projected total of 40,380 military personnel-and dependents. Billions of dollars will be spent on infrastructure and socio-economic improvements on Guam. The Guam Master Plan will outline the Defense Department's reqUirements and identify and mitigate socio-economic impacts to ensure a high quality of life standard for Guam's civilian community.
