Last Ports and Customs Subcommittee meeting was held on Friday, January 04, 2008, 2:00 p.m. at the PAG boardroom.
NEW DEVELOPMENTS a. PORT AUTHORITY MASTER PLAN DRAFT plan received January 09, 2008, in-house review to be completed by PAG management and Board no later than January 25, 2008. PBI will incorporate the comments received and deliver a draft document by end of month. The Port Authority of Guam is targeting a public hearing for the Master Plan in mid- February 2008, looking at the Piti Community Center as a venue. b. GAO Questionaire This questionaire was disseminated to the sub-committee members, responses that were received, were compiled and incorporated. The subcommittee response is included as an attachment. c. Military Tours PAG made a presentation to visiting military officials regarding Port capacity, planned infrastructure development, (proposed F-7 expansion) the military personnel were accompanied by Captain Lee (JGPO) and Gordon Lowe (SDDC). Questions were raised regarding on whether funding has been identified for development, answer was NO, port and domestic lines capacity issues were addressed, answers to break-bulk cargo origin for the buildup as well as volumes still present a challenge. The Port Authority of Guam assumes that the construction material will originate from the west coast. The presentation was then followed by a tour of Port facilities. |
